Representative mission · surface mobility and servicing
Walk over, anchor, swap it out
Deployed with its host, the robot alternates anchoring along cooperative interfaces and, while securely supported, transfers modules, changes tools and fastens at several points.
- Objective
- Module transfer and fastening on a facility surface without crewed EVA
- Deployment
- Hosted on the platform and moving along its surface; no separate servicer spacecraft
- Reference system
- S7 mobile manipulator

Why it is needed
Platforms and compute payloads age on different cycles; one degraded or outdated module can cap the value of the whole asset.
Keeping the platform and swapping modules needs a robot that can reach different work sites on the surface and assemble and disassemble reliably.
Crew access is limited and links have latency and gaps; the robot closes the loop on site while the ground sets goals and takes over during anomalies.

Preconditions
- The host surface carries cooperative anchor points and tool stations whose position and load rating are part of the platform design
- Replaceable modules have grasp and guided-insertion interfaces
- The host provides support, power, communications and a thermal interface, and coordinates attitude effects of the work
- The ground can upload task goals and take over during anomalies
How completion is judged
- After every anchor change, the lock is confirmed before continuing
- The module is fully inserted and every fastening point is complete
- Tools are stowed and the robot is back in a safe pose
- The result check is recorded against the task version
These are the criteria in the task definition; the simulation shows the operation sequence, not the status-check process itself.
